Massimo Aparo is Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Prior to this, and since 2016, Mr Aparo was Acting Director of the Office for Verification in Iran at the IAEA.

Mr Aparo has been working at the IAEA's Department of Safeguards since 1997. He served as Section Head in the Division of Technical and Scientific Services, as Head of the IAEA's Tokyo Regional Office and as Head of the Iran Task Force.

Before joining the IAEA Mr Aparo worked as Director General of an Italian company in the area of radiation detection and monitoring, in the European Space Agency and at Italy's former National Committee for Nuclear Energy.

Mr Aparo is a nuclear engineer.

Mr Malik Derrough is currently the Head of the Section for Safeguards Programme Coordination in the IAEA Department of Safeguards. In this position, he serves as senior advisor to the Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Safeguards on all safeguards implementation issues, and is also in charge of effectiveness evaluation, budget formulation, human resource matters and communication with Member States.

Prior to this position, Mr Derrough served in a variety of senior positions in the Department of Safeguards, including as Section Head responsible for safeguards implementation in South and Latin America; as Senior Safeguards Inspector for the Iran Task Force; as Senior Safeguards Inspector in the section responsible for safeguards implementation in the Middle East; and as a safeguards technical specialist in the Office of the Deputy Director General for Safeguards. Mr Derrough became a safeguards inspector in 1997 for which his first inspection was to Iraq under relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions and thereafter spent several years in the division responsible for verification activities in Japan.

Mr Derrough is a nuclear engineer, having earned a diploma in neutronics from the National Institute for Nuclear Science and Technology in Grenoble, France.

Mr. Scott Roecker joined NTI as senior director on NTI's Materials Risk Management team in February 2021. He focuses on work to reduce the risks associated with nuclear and radiological materials through a number of NTI projects, including the Global Dialogue on Nuclear Security Priorities and the NTI Nuclear Security Index, as well as through targeted cooperation with priority countries. He also supports NTI's nuclear disarmament verification work and advises leadership on issues related to Iran.

Mr. Roecker previously served as the director of the Office of Nuclear Material Removal at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). In this position, he was responsible for all U.S.-led activities to remove or dispose of highly enriched uranium (HEU) and separated plutonium with partner countries. The goal of this work is to eliminate excess special nuclear material that could be used by a non-state actor in an improvised nuclear device and included the removal of all HEU and separated plutonium from the Fast Critical Assembly in Japan.

From November 2014 through May 2017, Mr. Roecker served as the director for Nuclear Threat Reduction at the National Security Council. In that role, he coordinated the development and implementation of policies to prevent nuclear terrorism through efforts to secure nuclear and radiological materials, minimize HEU and plutonium, and counter nuclear smuggling. He also was the sous-sherpa for the United States at the 2016 Nuclear Security Summit and led efforts to implement an outreach campaign designed to reach entry into force of the Amended Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material.

Mr. Roecker has also served as the senior policy advisor for the Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, where he provided policy guidance on nuclear security activities across all nonproliferation programs at NNSA. He has worked in the Office of the Second Line of Defense, where he managed border security engagement with partners in South and Central Asia. Mr. Roecker began his career at NNSA working with Russia and China to secure nuclear materials.

She got Ph.D in Nuclear Engineering in 2001 in Seoul National University. Her doctoral thesis was about V&V (verification and validation) for the safety critical digital I&C system. Since she joined KINAC in 2006, she worked on nuclear non-proliferation and security. KINAC, governmental affiliated organization to implement safeguards, security and export control.

She had experience in working on safeguards implementation and ROK Support program to the IAEA. She is currently working as a director general of the office of nuclear non-proliferation in KINAC.
